Hi! I’m ELIANA GOLDFARB. I am an advocate, mentor, and facilitator for youth and teens. I recently graduated from Pitzer College, with a combined B.A. in Psychology and Gender Feminist Studies. During my time at Pitzer, I co-lead an advocacy organization focused on providing trauma informed support to survivors of sexual violence and educating the campus community. I also completed an interdisciplinary honors thesis, focusing on young people’s understandings of sexual assault and arguing for more nuanced, compassionate approaches to education. 

I have also spent my last four summers working up in the Sierra Nevadas at Camp Tawonga. As both a counselor and program supervisor, my work has largely focused on creating wellness for young girls and teens through a connection with nature, positive self-image, and community care. This often looks like collaborating with therapists to create support plans for campers working through mental and social challenges, and empowering campers to take on challenges like backpacking and leadership roles. 

I have facilitated many small group and camp wide women’s circles, as well as consent and hookup culture workshops, and ritual spaces. One of the greatest honors of my life has been witnessing and mentoring young people throughout their years at camp; seeing them embrace their true selves with confidence and be compassionate leaders is such a gift. 

Throughout the spaces I’ve facilitated for survivors, and young people at camp, I always find myself grounded in the approaches and care I learned from Emily and Quetzal. I was incredibly lucky to have had Girls Group as a safe, supportive space throughout middle and high school. The group helped empower me to embrace my inner voice with confidence, and also built empathy and awe for others as I had the honor of watching my peers do the same. I am beyond excited to be returning to Love Your Nature as an apprentice this year, to continue learning from Emily and Quetzal, and to help create empowering spaces for young girls.

Fun Facts

• I am fluent in Spanish! I grew up going to Spanish immersion school and studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain. 
  
• I love working with kids of all ages! I worked in an EasterSeals preschool throughout college and have worked as a camp counselor for 10 summers. Before working at Camp Tawonga, I worked at Camp Kee Tov and Spotlight: Girls.
