What do girls want and need? How can we support them?
Young people deserve help finding their authentic self and the courage to walk with purpose, resilience and love. Our "Real Talk" East Bay African Heritage* Group holds a safe space for youth to share honest conversations, make meaningful connections, and seeds essential life skills to help teen girls** make choices that truly serve them. The group seeks to create a circle of understanding, solidarity and support for teens of African heritage & their parents. This is a space to celebrate and uplift each other, where we value being real, together. Our aim is to uncover some wisdom, joy and community. We hope you'll join us!

Real Talk Curriculum will be developmentally (age and stage) appropriate for teens in or around 9th grade. We will focus on curriculum themes through a Black lens as best serves the group, striking a healthy balance between depth and fun. Have more questions? Visit our Teen Curriculum, Philosophy, or our FAQ.
* What is "African Heritage" and why do we use that term?
"Black" is a powerful term that connects people of African heritage to our homeland and expresses solidarity for our people around the world. Sometimes, people of African heritage can feel left out, like we are not "Black enough." So we use a term that make sure everyone with African heritage know that they are welcome and included. |
** What do we mean by "girls"?
We understand gender identity to be fluid and expressed in many ways. All sexual orientations are welcome and celebrated. Further information on our FAQ. |
