Our Real Talk Curriculum offers practical wisdom to help girls* cultivate meaningful friendships, practice authentic self expression, and make choices that truly serve them. We support the girls as they navigate the complexity of being a teen in these times, creating a space for them grow self-esteem, wisdom, and belonging. We help them develop essential life skills and decision making tools, in a safe circle to practice and learn.
This group will:
The "Bears" group is open to 6th and 7th graders. We blend ages and grades in our groups to support "best fit" rather than just default to enrolling by grade. We have found this flexibility supports diversity (in many ways) in each group, and creates a stronger learning environment.
Enrollment in this group will be extremely limited, please apply as soon as you are considering joining.
Our program is designed to be a school-year long commitment, so ideally the same group of girls stay together for one or more years. This is how we build a strong "village" to hold the girls coming of age process, as mentors and as a community around them. Due to the small group size, we prioritize families able to commit to the entire school year. For the last 3 years, we have had almost 100% re-enrollment. Our hope is teens will participate fully, attending all or as many gatherings as possible. You may be added to a wait list if the group is already full, or you are unable to commit to the entire school year.
Have more questions? Visit our Teen Curriculum for more information about what we do together, or our FAQ.
*We understand gender identity to be fluid and expressed in many ways. Our programs welcome teens along the gender spectrum who are assigned female at birth and/or socialized female. Please see our website for our extended gender inclusive policy

Group Guide
To provide the strongest leadership we have to offer, this group is guided by Isabella Masterson and overseen on site by Directors Emily Frost & Quetzal Francois. Isabella started as a 10 year old in a girls group, and is now a graduating senior at UC Davis with a focus in Psychology, Human Development and Asian American Studies. She has been mentored directly by Emily Frost, founding Director, for 11 years, and has been in the Apprentice role, supporting teens, for 2+ years. This group is primarily facilitated by Isabella, with curriculum development and guidance by Emily and Quetzal.

Calendar
In attempt to meet the changing needs of our community and these times, 2022-23 programs are designed to hopefully meet our needs for contact, community, and safety. We will continue to meet outdoors, in person (as we have consistently for the last two years). If we need to switch to to our indoor location (Rockridge) or Zoom (schedule for online is 2-3:30pm) due to Covid-19 concerns, fires, heavy rains, or any other unforeseen serious risks, we will make an announcement with as much notice as possible. Safety protocols will be kept as up to date as possible. We will review this as part of the enrollment process.
Cost
Tuition for entire school year:
Tier 1 $2,500
Tier 2 $2,700 (Pay It Forward Option*)
* What is the “Tier 2 Pay It Forward” option?
We believe that all teens should have access to these important conversations, including those for whom our rates are a financial barrier. In order to do that, we offer scholarships to as many teens as possible. In 2021, $30,000 in scholarships were given. Please consider making a difference in a teen’s life through our “Pay It Forward” option, which includes gifting $20/month extra towards a scholarship.
** We are committed to making this important opportunity available to all teens. We offer various levels of scholarship based on need. Please indicate in your registration if you need some sort of financial assistance, and we will do our best to set up a payment plan that works for your family.
